Got some cravings for some really good pies in Maui?
Until lately, I had never been a fan of pies. That is why I embarked on a pie quest. I had three different places and a local brand in mind before ever yelping "best pies on Maui": Sugar Beach Bake Shop, Maui Pie, Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop, and Pono Pies were my choice.
Sugar Beach Bake Shop - My old coworker used to rave about the pie from here with such passion. She, like myself, has a huge sweet tooth, so I knew she wasn't lying. I only tried two of their pies, one of which was a variety of key lime that I later realized I don't care for, but I thought it was tasty, just a little too lemony for my taste. However, the creamy pies are more satisfying to my tastebuds. The crumbly crust is what sets their pies apart from the 2 other shops. Rating 7.5 /10.
Maui Pie - Another coworker of mine informed me about this place and how delicious their banana cream pie is. Unfortunately, by the time I got to the shop, they had sold out of not just the banana cream pie, but also a lot of the other pies I was interested in, including the savory vegetable pot pie. That is to say, their pies are quite popular or that they prepare little batches each morning. Rating 7/10
Pono Pie- Hello my health geeks, this is the pie for you! Just get yourself one and thank me later. Rating 8/10
Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop - If you are hungry after a lengthy drive from town and maybe even detained in traffic, you should stop at this shop before continuing on through Lahaina. Order a burger, a sandwich, or one of their famous pies such as their banana cream pie. Rating 8.5/ 10
